Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach. The drug is often prescribed for acid reflux, can be used during pregnancy (according to the NHS) and is available in 10mg, 20mg and 40mg capsules to be taken once per day.
